Make This Summer A Chocomel Summer

Creating a new category entry point for a legendary brand.

Chocomel is already dominant in the minds of consumers in the Netherlands and across Europe as a winter beverage, but is much less salient as a warm-weather option.

In this spec campaign, positioning Chocomel as a recreational summer drink for teens and young adults, we developed an avenue to increase mental availability as a beverage of choice in the warm summer months, unlock increased year-round growth, and help Chocomel to “own the summer”.

The hero film for this spec campaign is a fantastic case study for the hybrid AI production pipeline my team and I developed at Monks.

Utilising a blend of traditional techniques – like illustration, 3D modelling, and compositing – along with AI tooling – like Nano Banana Pro, Veo, Kling, and Seedance – we’re able to produce this kind of work more efficiently and flexibly than ever without having to make major sacrifices in quality, creativity, and control.

Traditional character design to AI character renders

By designing characters using traditional illustration techniques (and a dash of old-school, human creativity) and then rendering them with AI, we’re able to create unique, memorable characters that avoid the generic look of pure-prompt artwork.

Traditional 3D wireframes to AI generated environments

Simple 3D wireframes of the environment give us full camera control and enable us to create more intentional and dynamic shots.

AI video assets to traditional edit and comp

We break down shots into individual layers or elements to give us far greater control over the performance before creating a final shot using a traditional edit and comp process.

By treating AI-generated video elements as building blocks for a comp rather than finished scenes in their own right, we give ourselves more freedom, flexibility, and control.
